Hi to all,
I have difficulties creating a proper sentence with using phrasal verb. Help me please.
Which one is correct?
------------
"I will let the nurse that looked after me know"
or:
I will let know the nurse that looked after me.
-----------
The second sentence is probably right, however what about the first one?
thanks

Hello
I think the second one it's correct. "I will let know the nurse that looked after me."
The first one not sounds correct to me. Maybe it's correct too.
see ya.

Sorry, but no; I agree completely with Mr Micawber.
In this construction (which is not really a phrasal verb), the form is:
- subject <form of let> <noun phrase, acting like subject of following infinitive> <infinitive w/o to> rest of sentence.
I.e. the one doing the action of the infinitive comes before the infinitive.
Thus the correct sentence is,
- I will let the nurse that looked after me know.
The one who will be doing the knowing is, "the nurse that looked after me".
It is exactly the same structure as,
- I will let Pat know.
