What is the difference between the 2 sentences?
I haven't gone to the movies for a long time.
I haven't been going to the movies for a long time.

>What is the difference between the 2 sentences?
-- Here's how I interpret each of them:

>I haven't gone to the movies for a long time.
- It has been a long time since the last time I attended a movie.

>I haven't been going to the movies for a long time.
-- This has 2 likely interpretations. Context would generally say which was intended:
- I now attend movies at least occasionally, but I only recently began to do that.
- I used to attend the movies regularly, but I stopped doing that a long time ago.
