Hi. I got my diploma certificate in English, but I don't understand gramatically. Is this statement gramatically correct? The expression "has this day been..." is common to use? Could you give me some other example?
It says,
"...Minmin has this day been admitted to the degree of associate of art, July 1, 2008."
Why does it include the date here?
Thank you!

This is correct, but it is very formal wording (which is appropriate for something as important as a diploma). The phrase "this day" is used as an adverb to say when something happened. The actual date is added to show people who read the diploma later when it happened.
In ordinary (not so formal) speaking or writing, you would say,
- … has been awarded the degree of associate of art today, July 1, 2008. (or the actual date would be omitted if it is being spoken, since the listeners would know when "today" is).
Maybe another very formal speech would be the sentence of a court:
- You will this day be transported to the County Jail where you will serve a term of three months.
