Does anyone know the difference between "He was arrested yesterday" and "He got arrested yesterday" ?

Dear Cite,

I don't think there are any difference, but in my ears 'He was arrested by the police' sounds better than the sentence with 'to get'. But you can say 'I got caught by the police' so I don't think it is wrong to use 'to get' in the sentence concerned.
