Which are correct:

1-What problems do you have to keep you awake at night.
2-What problems do you have that keep you awake at night.

3-What work do you have to do to keep you awake at night.
4-What work do you have to do that keeps you awake at night.

I think 1 & 3 are incorrect. They seem to imply that you use the problems you have or the work you have to do in order to stay awake at night. It is as if you want to stay awake at night.

No, 3 and 4 are correct, though awkward. All four are too long ...

Try:

What problems keep you awake at night?
What things you have to do that keep you awake at night?

What things you have to do that keep you awake at night?

Is that English, Marius?

And would you call this incorrect?

What problems do you have that prevent you sleeping at night?

3-What work do you have to do to keep you awake at night.
4-What work do you have to do that keeps you awake at night.

But what are you trying to say, navi?

1. How can you stop yourself from falling asleep at night?
2. What work that you do at night that prevents you sleeping at night?
3. What work do you do in the day that prevents you sleeping at night?

Navi, sentences 2 and 4 are good (sentence 4 should say keep). These are the way we ask our friends about the things that keep them from sleeping.

Your guess about sentences 1 and 3 are correct, and very well thought out! If I used my worries to keep myself awake, my doctor might ask me question 1. Or if I were a policeman on a stakeout at night, my partner might want to know if I came with something to keep me awake. :)

Take another look at this OT.
IMO, in sentence 4 keeps is correct. Work keeps you awake at night.
These are the ways we ask our friends...

My oversight; my eyes failed me. You are correct--it should be keeps.
