This phrase means "please be patient with us" ...

If someone says this, they are kind of warning whoever they are talking to that something might not be as good as they expect....

For Example:

I went to sleep really late last night and did not have time to prepare this speech, so please bear with me.
(the person is warning the other that because he went to bed so late, that his speech might not be very good, and he asks that they be patient with him)
