1)I would like to go swimming rather than run.
2) I would like to go swimming rather than to run.
3) I would like to go swimming rather than running.
4) I prefer to go swimming rather than run.
5) I prefer to go swimming rather than running.

and which one is the better choice?

For good style or diction, keep your phrases parallel. I prefer sentences #3 and #5. In conversation, however, many people will reduce the second verb form to the non-ing form. A good argument can be made that this is correct also.

In my opinon,the sentence I prefer to go swimming rather than run is more natural,cause prefer to pay more attention at one action. If we want to express a habit ,I prefer swimming to running or I prefer swimming rather than running is more natual maybe. Maybe I prefer to go swimming rather than (go) running can be simplized into the sentence I prefer to go swimming rather than running.

I will use simplify to substitute simplize.

The sentences above still need further discussion. welcome more. :confused:
