Which are correct:

1-John, whom it was always a pleasure to meet, was there.
2-John, meeting whom was always a pleasure, was there.
3-John, to meet whom was always a pleasure, was there.
4-John, who was always a pleasure to meet, was there.

#1 is grammatically perfect.
#2 and #3 are pretty bad.
#4 is grammatically lax, but acceptable to many.
