Please check these sentences and correct them.
1. On his leaving home, it started raining.
2. How many books does he have? / [About two hundred.] or [About two hundreds.]
3. When painting, there are many different substances we can use: ink is one, paint is another, charcoal is a third, and [etc, so forth, so on].
4. She seems like a straight person. [What does 'a straight person' mean?]
5. When I was a boy, catching crabs in the seaside/seashore was my favourite pastime.
6. Most people find the [actor, movie star, TV talent, entertainer] obnoxious and abrasive.
7. He was outstanding/distinguished/proved in the competition.
8. (Compared) To them, John is a dream. Handsome, rich, honest, polite, and able/competent!
9. (It's like) The more I give (you), the more you want
10. It's like we're trying to put a Band-Aid on something that's just been bled dry. It's finished. / It isn't finished if we give it a chance.
