Hello,

Please, could anyone tell me if the relative pronoun in the sentence below functions as direct or as indirect object?

That's the man who we visited yesterday.

Can relative pronouns function as indirect and direct objects?

Just one more thing, can we have a sentence without a direct object but with an indirect object?

Thanks a lot!

- That's the man who we visited yesterday.
-- It's a direct object.

>Can relative pronouns function as indirect and direct objects?
-- Yes. Examples:
Direct: That's the person whom I saw on TV.
Indirect: Where is the clerk whom I asked the question.

(Note: you can generally omit the relative pronoun when it is being used as an object.)

>Just one more thing, can we have a sentence without a direct object but with an indirect object?
-- I can't think of one. I suspect we cannot.
