Hi Englishpage,

I have a quick question from you. Is this sentence correct:

Those who enter a profession should establish a permanent commitment to the society, to the profession, and to themselves.

OR is it correct this way:

Those who enter a profession should establish a permanent commitment to the society, the profession, and themselves.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

Those who enter a profession should establish a permanent commitment to (the) society, to the profession, and to themselves. (OK. Omit "the").

OR is it correct this way:

Those who enter a profession should establish a permanent commitment to (the) society, the profession, and themselves. (OK. Omit "the").

("Society" is a general term, so does not need "the." When you speak of a particular society, include "the." Example: The society of automotive engineers. You have mentioned "the profession" which has a similar meaning so, I believe, you meant "society" to refer to "humans in general").
