Hi,

I would like to know if this sentence is correct:


Many trades have extincted because of the development of technology.

or:

Many trades have become extincted because of the development of technology.

Many trades have extincted because of the development of technology. (Incorrect. Extinct is not a verb, it's an adjective)
or:

Many trades have become extincted because of the development of technology. (Correct).

As Rusty said, in modern English "extinct" is always an adjective, not a verb. Thus it does not have an "ed" added to it. The correct sentence should be:

- Many trades have become extinct because of the development of technology.
