In my research in the net I discovered that there is the phrasal verbs,the idiomatic expressions and the sayings.

"Third time lucky" is a saying.But, what's his meaning?

PS: in this case his can be use for things.If not,what's the pronoun that can be use?

"Third time lucky" is a saying.But, what's <strike>his</strike> its meaning?
(I think this is a superstitution. It means that sometimes you have to try something three times before you have success. "Three times is the charm" is another saying that has the same meaning).

PS: in this case his can be use for things.If not,what's the pronoun that can be use? (No. "His" is used for male persons. "Its" is the possessive pronoun to use for things).
