Which of these two sentences is correct in regards to the use of "/":

1. Jason eats and/or sleeps all day.

2. Jason eats and / or sleeps all day.

I've seen both ways used and I simply don't know which is the correct way.

x = a / b – x equals a divided by b
With the exception of the above algebraic equation, all the examples I have found: fractions, dates, pounds sterling, Mr./Mrs., and/or, have no space before and after the slash (/).
