Hi,

I found the following phrase in my daily amount of new vocabularys :

"to look forward to doing something"

I`m a bit confused about the part "to doing something", because I can`t recall another sentence with "to + ing". I would have said "to look forward to do something" or "to look forward doing something".

1."I look forward to see her."
2."I look forward seeing her."
3."I look forward to seeing her."

My best bet is number one. Number three sounds the least likely to me but my book says it`s right.

thanks a lot!

Jörg

1."I look forward to see her."
2."I look forward seeing her."
3."I look forward to seeing her."
(I think "look forward to" is an idiom. It takes an object which can be a noun, gerund, noun clause. Number 3 is the correct one. Other examples: I look forward to your visit. I look forward to meeting her parents. I am looking forward to talking with him).
