Hi!! I need to know a phrasal verb which means "finish". Well, I really have to complete this sentence with a phrasal verb, and I think one which means "finish" suits well:

The people where living the theatre because the play ______

The people where leaving the theatre because the play ended up/got over. (These are phrasal verbs. I think the following are more natural: ...the play ended/...the play was over).

It took me a while, but I finally came up with a phrasal verb that fits well:
- People were leaving the theatre because the play let out.

It means a bit more than simply "finish"; you use it to show the ending of meetings and events when those in attendance in fact leave.
