Please kindly check if I make any mistakes below, and thanks:

1. I think so. Day and night are caused by the rotation of the earth.
2. So we say, "Stars control our lives."
3. Like we can't eat meats; if we do, we may go to hell. I don't believe in superstition at all.
4. My parents taught me: "We should never do anything immoral in this world, and that we would rather starve to death than breaking a law."
5. Yes, let the children study arts when they are young; it is good for their bodies and minds.

thanks. after "rather than" it should not be V+ing.

Rather than is OK with V+ing when there is a parallel construction.
He likes swimming rather than walking. We will be sailing rather than flying.
In sentence 4. ought is follwed by the infinitive verb, so the verb after rather than is also infinitive.
