Dear teachers!
Could you please tell me if I am right?
When we go home, we shall eat dinner.
The italicised sentence (whole) is a matrix clause.
The underlined sentence is a subordinate clause (Adverb clause).
The bold sentence is a main clause.
Are the underlined parts of the sentences noun clauses?
I know who has broken window.
I know what time the tram arrives.
Thank you very much in advance
Best regards.
-- The classifications you give in your first example are consistent with the way many people use these terms. A web search shows that some people use the terms in different ways, so to insure successful communication, it is best to define your own use or check how someone else uses the terms. As far as I can tell, "matrix clause" is used more by linguists than in basic descriptions of English grammar.
