Either could be correct, but the meaning is slightly different. Use the first, without the comma, if the modifying phrase is inherent in the definition of the term. I suspect that is what you most likely mean.
The second, with the comma, says that the term is the equivalent of "God", and by the way, it happens to be conceived in a monotheistic manner. This is possible, but I don't think it is as likely a thing to say.
