Dear Pete (or Rusty):

I think in these sentences "it" is a personal pronoun. Am I right?

1. He loves Jane. I know [it] quite well.
2. I was feeling terrible, but I had a brandy, and [it] did me good.
3. She said nothing: [it] made her father angry.
4. If you don't write me, you'll regret [it]!

Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Yes, I would say so. In all those cases, the word "it" refers to something specific, either an actual noun (like "brandy" in #2) or a specific idea expressed earlier.
