Are these sentences correct:
1-I didn't sleep last night to finish my paper.
2-I didn't seep last night in order to finish my paper.
Do they need a comma after "night"?

Both sound pretty awkward. Here's what sounds right:
In order to finish my paper, I didn't sleep last night.

Navi, if the sentences were positive instead of negative, they would sound OK. I'm not sure why.
I stayed awake all night to finish my paper.
I stayed awake all night in order to finish my paper.
Hi, Rusty!
Please confirm my thoughts.
I think;
1. I slept last night (in order) to finish my paper.
This doesn't make sense.
2. I didn't do that. [do that = sleep last ...]
This also doesn't make sense by the same reason.
So the following sentence doesn't make sense.
3. I didn't sleep last night (in order) to finish my paper.
Thanks a million.

Hi Ann,
I think your logic makes sense. Confusing, isn't it?
Hi, Rusty.
Thank you always.
I think English is both difficult and easy. And interesting and WONDERFUL!
Have a nice weekend!
Uh!
I'd like to take this opportunity to say hello to Pete and you on behalf of Bear.
'Bear' was my senior man, and he is in the army now.
I heard a week ago that he was 'Bear' and he joined the army about 6 months ago.
He wanted me to say hello to Pete and you - he can't be at the computer so often.
:)

Thanks, Ann. I had been wondering why Bear had stopped posting; I've missed his questions and other comments.
