View Full Version : Please correct!p
Dear teacher,
Please correct and suggest the better ones.
"I do believe, Lord, "
A belief is the beginning of a life of those who are children of Lord. A belief is also a starting point for miracle of: gained a/his sight of a man blinded from birth.(Jesus opened eyes of a man blinded from birth.). The belief is also a starting point for each of us discovering the love of Lord. The people’s life with seducements, evils and indulgences made us not to see, not to realize the Lord’s love in our lifes. The cause of the serious blind disease of the people in the age today is that we know only ourselves, know only the indulgences, aspiration ourselves but fogeting the present of Lord.
My Lord, please open our eyes.
Thanks a lot

Dear Rusty,
Thank you very much for your quick reply.
I would like to ask you something about the sentence:
A belief is also a starting point for the miracle of gained a/ gaining of his sight by a man blinded from birth.
Please explain for me what the above sentence means. In particular, the preposition og "by". Is it used like in passive voice?
I am looking forward to hearing from you
Thanks a lot

The sentence can be written in two ways. The meaning is the same.
1. A belief is (also) a starting point for the miracle of a gaining of his sight by a man blinded from birth.
2. A belief is (also) a starting point for the miracle of sight gained by a man blinded from birth.
"Also" indicates that there has been a previous conversation about belief. "For the miracle" has no verb. The speaker probably means, "for accepting the miracle." "...of the gaining of his sight" describes "miracle." ..."by a man" tells you who gained his sight. "Blinded" is a participle used as an adjective, describing "man." "...from birth" is a prepositional phrase modifying "blinded." This is not a passive voice. The passive voice needs the verb "to be." Example: His sight was gained by a man blinded from birth.
I hope this helps. Pete does a better job of parsing sentences than I do. Maybe he will tackle this one.
