Would you please check these sentences and correct them for me?
1. He is a world-famous specialist on geology.
2. His diligence resulted in his success.
3. His success resulted from his diligence.
4. Eating too much often results in illness.
5. His illness/diabetes/overweight results from eating too much.
6-1. I regret telling you that you are [laid off, fired].
6-2. I'm sorry to [have told, tell] you that you are [laid off, fired].
7-1. I regret telling you that you were adopted.
7-2. I'm sorry to [have told, tell] you that you were adopted.

4. Eating too much often results in illness. (OK).
5. His illness/diabetes/overweight results from eating too much. (OK).
6-1. I regret telling you that you are [laid off, fired]. (OK).
6-2. I'm sorry to [ , tell] you that you are [laid off, fired]. (...have told you that your were....)
7-1. I regret telling you that you were adopted. (OK).
7-2. I'm sorry to [have told, tell] you that you were adopted. (OK).
