Dear Teacher,
1) You don’t have to jump down my throat.
- What does this sentence mean ?
2) Could you do me a favor ?
- Does this sentence mean “ Could you help me ? “ ?
Thanks a lot.

-- Punctuation note: don't leave a space between the last word of a sentence and its terminal punctuation mark like a question mark. When the quote that comes at the end of a sentence ends with a terminal punctuation mark, you let that end the exterior sentence as well (whether or not the 2 punctuation marks would otherwise be the same). In #2, if you start a quote with a "left quotation mark", you should end it with a "right quotation mark".
1) You don’t have to jump down my throat.
- What does this sentence mean?
-- It isn't necessary for you to speak to me in such an angry manner.
2) Could you do me a favor?
- Does this sentence mean “Could you help me?“
-- Close. More precisely, "Could you do something for me?" There's a lot of overlap in the two concepts.
