Dear Teachers,

1) Say, would you like a cup of tea?

- Why do we use " say " here?

2) other than that.

- What does this sentence mean?

Thanks a lot in advance.

-- "Say" here is a mild expletive; it gives the idea that the speaker just had the idea, and it also shows that you probably expect a reply.

2) other than that.

- What does this sentence mean?
-- This is not a complete sentence. It introduces a sentence by referring to something that was just said which would contradict at least part of you are going to say. For example:
- I thought the plot of the movie suffered from a lack of logic. Other than that, I enjoyed watching it, largely because of the action and special effects.
