Dear teachers,

Please advise on the choice of words in blue in the following sentences.

(1) I said to my mother, who is living with me, "I'll come/go home at 6:00 this evening."

(2) I told someone who is not living with me, "I'll come/go home at 6:00 this evening."

(3) I requested someone who is not living with me, "Please come/go to my place/home at 6:00 this evening."

(4) I asked someone who is not living with me, "When will you come/go home this evening?"

(5) I asked someone who is not living with me, "Can I come/go to your place/home this evening?"

Thanks for reading.

>Please advise on the choice of words in blue in the following sentences.

(1) I said to my mother, who is living with me, "I'll come/<strike>go</strike> home at 6:00 this evening."

(2) I told someone who is not living with me, "I'll <strike>come</strike>/go home at 6:00 this evening."

(3) I requested someone who is not living with me, "Please come/go to my place/home at 6:00 this evening." [If I think I'll be there (which is likely), I'll use "come". If I don't expect to be there (maybe I want this person to pick up something for me), I'll use "go". *]

(4) I asked someone who is not living with me, "When will you <strike>come</strike>/go home this evening?"

(5) I asked someone who is not living with me, "Can I come/<strike>go</strike> to your place/home this evening?"

* In 3 and 5, both "home" and "place" are common. "Place" is probably less formal, a bit closer to slang.
