The following sentences are a translation of Japanese into English. My question is:

Are (1) and (2) both correct for the blank? If so, what is the difference between the two?

What day of the week do you think it is today? Why do I have to go to the office ( )?
(1) even on Sunday
(2) on Sunday, too

Any comment would be appreciated.

Here's my two cents' worth.

IMHO, both are correct and mean basically the same thing in this context.
But while 'too' is neutral, 'even' emphasizes the modifiee is unexpected or surprising.
Therefore, using 'even' expresses the speaker's uneasiness and disagreement.
