Are the second sentences in each pair correct:

-"I don't like the engine of my car."
-"I like the engine of mine."

-"I don't like the husband of my sister."
-"I like the husband of mine." (ie. the husband of my sister)

-"I don't like my sister's husband."
-"I like the husband of mine."

-"I don't like the engine of my car."
-"I like the engine of mine." [in the right context]
Both OK.

-"I don't like the husband of my sister." OK
-"I like the husband of mine." (ie. the husband of my sister) incorrect
We don't say "mine" as a meaning of "my sister" in this context."
This is fine:
His sister is taller than mine.

-"I don't like my sister's husband." Fine. The usual way of saying this.
-"I like the husband of mine." the same as the above

Regards.
