When a verb is in the active voice, the subject performs the action in a sentence.
I (subject) have (verb in active voice) a car.
When the verb is in the passive voice, the subject receives the action.
A car (subject) is had/possessed (verb in passive voice) by me.
A passive verb is the appropriate form of the verb to be + participle.
The passive sentence above is very awkward. Use the passive voice when the subject that receives the action is more important than the originator of the action.
Example: The car in the accident was owned by some company in Michigan.

Someone has told me that some special verbs can't be passive even they are transive for example:
Lack -----have ------- be ----------resemble
Can youtell me more about this?

The following paragraph comes from
http://www.bartleby.com/64/C001/070.html
There are a few transitive verbs—called middle verbs—that cannot normally be made passive, such as: fit, have, lack, resemble, and suit. Thus you can say That suit fits you but not You are fit by that suit; Our team lacks a good pitcher, but not A good pitcher is lacked by our team; and so on.
(At the moment I can't think of any others, but if you find one that you question, bring it to the forum and we'll give you an answer).
