Hi,

He felt obliged to do the job.

He felt obligated to do the job.

Is it optional to use obliged or obligated in the sentences above?

The first sentence may also mean that he felt motivated to do the job as a good gesture in response to something good previously done for him, correct?

Thanks,

Plin.

Yes, you can use either word. I also agree that you can feel obliged when someone has done you a favor when "obligated" might be too strong.
