Could we use both "mere" and "just" in a sentence? For instance, "She is just a mere child" or "We are just mere friends".

How should I finish this sentence: "His current job is ..."? Can I say "... a doctor", or "...doctor"?

After "Do you mind if I..." do we always use plain verb and after "Would you mind if I..." do we always use past tense verb?Is there any diffence in meaning?

Thanks.

Yeah.

Um... the first one, but I'd rather say "He currently works as a doctor".

Yeah, take a look here (http://esl.about.com/library/grammar/blconditionals.htm) for more information.

"Would you.." is more polite, cause if you say "Do you..", you almost definitely plan to do whatever is in question, but if you say "Would you..", you just ask if you could do it if you wanted.
