Which of these sentences are correct:

1-Your father's message was that you should be home by midnight.
2-Your father's message was for you to be home by midnight.

3-There was a message that you should be home by midnight.
4-There was a message for you to be home by midnight.

5-There was a message for John to be fired. (The message said that John should be fired.)
6-The message was for John to be fired.

I'd say that sentence 1, 2, 3, and 4 sound OK.

Sentences 5 and 6 don't sound natural. It seems to me that the phrase "a message for someone to do something" should be a message for the person named, not just a message about that person.
