Hi,
Please check these sentences and tell me which is correct.

1-1. There are some maple trees behind the house.
1-2. There are some maple trees in back of the house.
1-3. There are some maple trees in the back of the house.
1-4. There are some maple trees at/around the back of the house.

2-1. There is a small bakery behind the bookstore.
2-2. There is a small bakery in/at back of the bookstore.
2-3. There is a small bakery on the back of the bookstore.

1-1. There are some maple trees behind the house. (OK).
1-2. There are some maple trees in back of the house. (OK).
1-3. There are some maple trees in the back of the house. (This means inside the house, in the back part).
1-4. There are some maple trees at/around the back of the house. (OK. Around gives a slightly different picture: trees in a semi-circle around the back part of the house).
2-1. There is a small bakery behind the bookstore. (OK).
2-2. There is a small bakery in back/at the back) of the bookstore.
2-3. There is a small bakery on the back of the bookstore. (On is incorrect).
