Which is right:

1. I'm researching and exploring styles of music that I haven't been exposed to before.

2. I'm researching and exploring the styles of music that I haven't been exposed to before.

Can they both be right depending on the context?

Thank you for your time.

Both are correct, but they do not mean exactly the same thing.

#1 is a bit more common a construction because it's a more general statement. You are exploring some new styles of music.

#2 is more specific. By adding the definite article "the," you change the meaning of the statement: You are exploring every single new style of music that you haven't been exposed to before. You are not forgetting anything.

This is consistent with the behavior of the definite article "the" in other sentences. By adding "the," you make a more specific statement.

-I love books. = all books
-I love the books [that you gave me]. = some specific books
