I need to analyse a sentence out of a piece of text and have chosen this sentence, which I recognise to be very informally (and poorly) written - part of the reason I have chosen it.

It comes out of an Inland Revenue (government) leaflet.

I need to do this for a course I'm on, and am having trouble recognising SUBORDINATE CLAUSES /PHRASES IN THE SENTENCE and what TYPES of clauses/phrases they are.

I can see that the main clause is: 'send back your form now' and can identify the parts of speech, but I'm really struggling with analysing the REST of it!

Can you help?

SENTENCE:

'Send back your form now to see the amount of tax credits you could be entitled to.'

many thanks

Ruth:)

Sentence: 'Send back your form now to see the amount of tax credits you could be entitled to.'

'Send back your form now' - main clause;

'to see the amount of tax credits' - infinitive adverb phrase with 'to see' acting as an adverb of 'send';

'you could be entitled to' - adjective clause introduced by the implied relative pronoun 'which', and modifying the antecedent noun ('tax credits').

any ideas?

Sorry I didn't get to reply until now. I agree with your analysis.
