The definition of hit home is "refer to or be relevant or familiar to".
I can easily find example sentence for "be relevant". Please give me examples for "familiar to" and "refer to".

Please give me examples for "familiar to" and "refer to"."Home" in "hit home" is used in the sense of "to the very heart/center/root of the matter". So "hit home" can mean "to reach one's mind effectively" as well as "to touch one's mind intimately".(EX) His criticism hit home with me.
(EX) His lyrics hit home with everybody.
