Thank you, Plin! could you tell me the different usage of the two words "radical" and "extreme"? Thanks again!

In a sense the two words are similar. In the political spectrum we may think of someone being in the radical left as having an extreme view of things. But "radical" thinking, is better perceived because it also conveys the idea of changing the old ways for more progressive ones. "Extreme" views, in general, are not perceived in this way.
