Hi Abigail:
Past tense is easier than present tense. You must use the auxiliar did for all the subjects.
Present tense:
Pat wants to buy a new car.
Past tense:
Affirmative:
Pat wanted to buy a new car.
Negative:
Pat didn't want to buy a new car.
Another example:
Affirmative:
They played tennis for two hours yesterday.
Negative:
They didn'd play tennis for two hours yesterday
Interrogative:
Did they play tennis for two hours yesterday?
It is easy, isn't it?
