Hello,

-Which is correct in the following please:

1.I was watching the guys (dance/dancing).

-Is the verb (intend) followed by the infinitive or gerund? Most dictionaries say it can be followed by both?:confused:

1.I was watching the guys (dance/dancing).---both are correct. Another example: "I was watching the students do/doing their exams."

-Is the verb (intend) followed by the infinitive or gerund? Most dictionaries say it can be followed by both?
They are correct. It can be followed by either of the two.

1. The boy is watching apples fall.
2. The boy is watching apples falling.
The sentence #1 could suggest the boy might become a great scientist in future, but the sentence #2 sounds to say nothing but the boy is hungry.
