I wonder if Have and Have got are interchangeable and whether to use one or the other is simply a matter of the level of language one wishes to use. However, the following sentence seems erroneous to me, can anyone tell me if it actually is?
I haven't any apples. (Is it necessary to use haven't got here?) Thanks in advance for your help.

The British English equivalent is "I haven't got any apples." In both cases the meaning is possession. When have indicates a present perfect verb there is a difference in the past participle.
