View Full Version : Need some help here.
Hi, can anyone please explain:
1. Are these sentences different:
- I already know
- I already knew
- I have already known
2. Can "work" and "job" be used interchangably in most cases? E.g:
- This (job/work) is too hard for me.
- I don't like his (job/work)
Thanks.

1. Are these sentences different:
- I already know (I know now because I learned/found out earlier).
- I already knew (I knew at some particular time in the past because I learned/found out previous to that time).
- I have already known
(Already means "at a previous time." Already serves to emphasize the verb, especially when the listener may have expected otherwise.
Example: I have already made the phone call. I have already finished my homework. I have already been to the store and back. I have already invited them. The sentences have the same meaning if you omit already and just use the present perfect tense).
2. Can "work" and "job" be used interchangably in most cases? E.g:
- This (job/work) is too hard for me. (Interchangeable. Both mean effort).
- I don't like his job. (Job means employment).
I don't like his work. (Work means craftsmanship).
