what's the difference between in the event of and in case.
In the event of / In case inclement weather, the meeting will be held at the Cora Kelly Recreation Center

I don't think there's any real difference between "In the event of" and "In case of". Both are followed by an object, for instance the noun "rain".

Without "of", the phrase "In case" introduces a subordinate clause:
- Bring your umbrella in case there is rain.
