:) Hi my name is Milagros. I am studying English.Learning a new language is "funny" , but sometimes I make mistakes.

I have a big hesitation in the uses of AT/ON/IN
In what case you have to use IN, AT, and ON. And what are their differences? I am confused in these prepositions. Can YOU help me?

there is a big difference between these prepositions AT/ON/IN
At

Used with a specific time. Here the time that the event happened is important. A specific time is the time we know that the event happened or when it is going to happen in the future. Examples can be “at 2pm” or “at dinner”. Dinner is a specific time because generally we always have it at the same time, even if that time changes slightly from day to day.

My flight arrived in London at 12:30am.
At 14:00, I went to the gym.
The film is going to start at 20:00.
I have a meeting tomorrow at 13:30.
I’m going to meet my friend at lunch.
I read the newspaper at breakfast. On

Used with days and dates. Here we don’t need to specify the exact time because it isn’t important. For example, in the sentance, “I went to the doctor’s on Thursday morning,” it doesn’t matter what time I went, what is important is that I went to the doctor’s. Moreover, a special occasions such as, Christmas or New Year, can be used as to reprent a day.

My Flight arrived on Monday.
On Sunday, I went to the gym.
I’m going to see the film on Saturday.
I have a meeting on Wednesday.
I’m going to have a party on my birthday.
On 13/12/2008 my sister will be 19.In

Used with periods of time. Periods of time tell us that we are either unsure about the specific time, for example “I want to have children in two years.” Or, it tells us that something occurrs within a period “in the Summer” or after a period “in 3 days”.

I will arrive in 3 days.
In a couple of years I’m going to emigrate to Spain.
In Autumn the leaves fall from the trees.
I’m going to visit my friend in January.Exceptions

There are exceptions to the above rules. These will just need to be memorised by themselves. I will continue to add to this list as and when I find more examples.
At Night

We say “in the morning” and “in the afternoon”, but for nighttime we say “at night”. For example:

I eat breakfast in the morning.
I have lunch in the afternoon.
I go to sleep at night. It is possible to use “in the night”, however this means during rather than a single point at night. I will cover this more when I talk about the time preposition “during.”
