Hello!

Could you help me to understand the meaning of the word "train" in this sentence?

It has also been decided that the output capacity of the three-train natural gas liquids complex be raised by adding a fourth and a fifth trains by the end of 2010.

Thank you.

In this report, a train is a major component of a natural gas processing plant. It represents a major process, like a manufacturing line, and represents capacity. Gas flows in, engineering miracles happen, and pipeline products flow out.

If you have an engineering interest, here is a web site and a report with a thorough discussion of natural gas processing trains:

Have fun.
