View Full Version : cool
Dear teachers,
What do we mean when we say that somebody is cool?
calm, not upset? Any other meaning?
Have a nice day,
Hela

Cool is standard and very enduring slang for someone or something that is trendy, stylish, excellent, admired, great, and approved by the young (who do the approving of all the cool things  ).
Hello Dan,
So can we say that somebody who's nice and friendly is "cool"?
All the best

Somebody who is cool has that little something extra about them, in their personality, their style and manner, their dress, their goals and pursuits, their accomplishments. They are looked up to.
Your older brother or sister could be cool. The guy with the fancy car could be cool. The girl with the best clothes and most music could be cool. The kid who rescues lost pets and gives them good homes could be cool. Your pastor could be cool. The foreign exchange student who learned your language in six months could be cool.
Many times, things are cool too, for many of the same reasons. Whoa! Cool cell phone, dude! :p
Thank you very much Dan :)
