what is the best answer for the following please:
I haven't talked to my mother ............ ayear ago.
a.since
b.for
c.x
d.during

I am confused because I think none of the answers is correct because (ago) is used only with the simple past am I correct?

Yeah, I haven't ever seen that, but it seems since is possible, the others are all definitely wrong.

I think too, that none of them are good (except maybe "a", I'm not sure about it), but I'd rather say it something like:

I haven't talked to my mother for a year.
or
I haven't talked to my mother since last year (maybe "since a year before last", no?).
