For anyone interested in English for Science and Technology:
I took a look on the web for practice exercises and related material. Here are some sites you may find helpful: Interactive EST exam preparatory exercises from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia including reading passages, skills and strategies of reading, and exercises in scientific method (see menu on left side). Don't miss the link to more practice at the bottom of each page. http://pkukmweb.ukm.my/~autolearner/EST_Modules/Index2.htm ~*~*~*~ Writing Exercises for Engineers and Scientists - If you look around this site you may find more than these two links: http://www.writing.eng.vt.edu/exercises/index.html http://www.writing.eng.vt.edu/workbooks/laboratory.html ~*~*~*~ http://www.schoolscience.co.uk/highlights.html#quiz "The electronic resources on this site give users an interactive experience, showing some applications of the science that they learn in school. All the pages have some sort of interactivity, such as a glossary entry or a question to test themselves." (bottom of the page for quizzes) ~*~*~*~ The Society for Technical Communication, Guidelines for Writing Good Descriptions http://www.ebstc.org/TechLit/plain.d.all.html ~*~*~*~ http://www.martindalecenter.com/ This is a fantastic site which offers links to numerous glossaries and databases for a variety of subjects including many related to science and technology. You will need to explore this site. There is a great deal of information here. To give you an idea of what you can find, here are two links the site provided: http://www.ehs.uiuc.edu/rss/lasers/index.aspx http://life.bio.sunysb.edu/marinebio/glossary.html ~*~*~*~ Onion Street is the BBC's website for students. Don't let the presentation fool you. There's a lot of good information here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/communi...ealworld.shtml ~*~*~*~ One of the best things you can do to "get the feel" of technical writing is to read current science and technology articles: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/default.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/default.stm http://www.newscientist.com/news.ns I hope you will find this helpful. ~ ~ ~ Harmony

English for Science and Technology (EST) was a new SPM subject introduced in year 2003 by Malaysian Education Ministry. It is an English test based on science and technology. So, why EST was introduced? I did a quick search using Google and found out the answer.
